Dr. Maha Ansara 
Dr. Maha Ansara is founder of Regency Endocrinology, an independent office that has been serving patients for over 20 years. She received her undergraduate degree from University of Ain Shams, Cairo Egypt. She completed her Internal medicine training at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Wilmington. She completed her three years fellowship at Barnes Hospital at Washington University School of Medicine. During her fellowship she maintained her status as an associated professor at Ain Shams University where she completed her PhD thesis as a scientific channel between Ain Shams University and Washington University. Her Passion was directed at finding a cure for diabetes. During her PhD thesis she conducted a three year pilot trial in islet cell transplant.  Dr. Ansara is an active member of American Association of Endocrinology (AACE) and American Medical Association and America Diabetes Association(AMA). She is very compassionate and driven to get her diabetic patient to goal with individualized treatment plans. She enjoys listening to music, exercising and traveling.

Richard P. Whetzel-Schill, ASN, RN, BS, MSN, APRN, NP-C, ANP-BC, Endocrinology Specialist
Richard has been in the nursing arena since graduating from The College of Staten Island in 1992 with an Associates in Applied Sciences. Prior to nursing he received an Associate’s of Science degree in Agricultural Science and Animal Husbandry, followed by a Bachelor’s of Science in Veterinary Technology, passing his licensing as a board certified Veterinary Technologist in 1998. His nursing work experience started with Edgar Nursing home in Staten Island, NY, then working on a medical ward including peritoneal dialysis in Queens, NY. Richard moved to Florida in 1994, working in Port Charlotte on a surgical/orthopedic unit, then transferring to a Telemetry/Progressive Care Unit with cardiology emphasis. He continued in cardiology after relocating to Orlando, FL working as a Charge nurse at Lucerne Hospital’s cardiac unit until acquisition by Orlando Health, then on the Cardiovascular Thoracic unit. Richard left the hospital setting in 2001 to work with a private cardiology practice. It was during this time that Richard looked to further his career in nursing and enrolled in The University of Central Florida, obtaining his Masters of Science in Nursing while working in the post cardiac catheterization unit at Orlando Health. He was recognized for his academic achievement with induction into Theta Epsilon Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. He served on the Master’s Students Nurse Association, the Central Florida Advanced Nursing Practice Council and as a Unit Nursing Practice Council committee member during his years at UCF. After graduating in 2010, with certification from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and board certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center as an Adult Nurse Practitioner, Richard worked in Infectious Diseases full time until going part time and returning to cardiology in 2012 in private practice. Richard continued in cardiology until accepting a position with Regency Endocrinology Diabetes and Metabolism in 2017 and gained full time employment shortly after joining. Richard is certified in the insertion and removal of the Eversense continuous glucose monitor since 2018. Richard most recent accomplishment was obtaining an Endocrinology Specialist Certificate from Duke University in April, 2020.

Richard enjoys Disney cruises and Disney Vacation club trips around the United States, with plans in the future for more elaborate ventures.
